Thank you for a wonderful stay, from the moment we arrived Joy and Alan made us very welcome could not do enough for us. We were on a weekend cycling adventure, Alan & Joy allowed us to keep our bikes in their shed overnight and packed us off with a great breakfast, many thanks Andrew & Liz.

We had the pleasure of staying with Joy and Alan for three nights in May, 2014. Our annex room was very comfortable and we found our hosts to be gracious, delightful and very caring. They went the extra mile to make sure our vacation was perfect. They took time to chat with us, provided the best breakfast in England, and there were always delicious treats in our room!
2nd June 2013, Donna P and Sharon P
Stayed one night at the Windwistle cottage annex and it was fantastic. Beautiful and self-contained with everything we needed and more. Lovely and welcoming. Varied choice for breakfast. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. Thank you Joy and her husband for making us feel so welcome

If you want the perfect B/B then this is the place to stay, from the minute we arrived Joy and Alan made us feel like welcome guests in their home. Everything from the welcome cup of tea and homemade scones on arrival to a lovely comfortable bed and a fabulous breakfast was perfect. We were also recomended a local pub to eat at The Horse and Groom in East Woodford and the beautiful home cooked food made a wonderful end to a lovely day. We hope to return before too long.
14th November 2011, Sharon, Jo & boys
Thank you for a wonderful stay, from the moment we arrived Joy made us very welcome could not do enough for us, the annex was just what we needed, with a young baby, microwave, fridge and plenty of room. We would recommended it to anyone who would like a comfortable stay with the extra touches. Thank you Joy once again for making our stay so enjoyable.

18th September 2011, Mark, Julie & Abby
We had an outstanding stay in August in the annexe. Joy and Alan were very welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. The breakfast was fantastic with such a variety of choice. The extra touches like rock cakes, shortbread and wide selection of cold drinks and hot beverages spoilt us. We will definitely recommend to friends and have already booked our return stay.
6th September 2011, Andy and Gemma – Bournemouth
We stayed in the Annex for 3 nights during September 2011. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left we were made so welcome. Nothing is to much trouble for Joy and Alan to help you out. The accomodation was lovely and with all the personal touches it made it an extra special stay. All the previous comments below are true. We shall be back soon, Thank you so much Alan and Joy for making our long weekend.

Lovely B&B. Breakfast was superb. Joy is so friendly and made us feel very comfortable. We loved seeing the animals outside our bedroom window in the mornings and our son especially liked Pongo the pig! location is great for visiting Longleat. Good child friendly local pubs around the area. We really enjoyed our stay
20th June 2011, Sophie Lafferty
Our one-night stay at Windwistle was much too short, though we shall remember our time there with great fondness. Joy’s hospitality was impeccable and her cheerfulness was contagious! We slept soundly in the quiet peacefulness of the Frome countryside and woke to a full breakfast that was sumptuously delicious.
17th April 2011, Barbara Baldon
From the welcoming cup and tea and cakes (homemade of course!) it was clear that our stay in this B & B was going to be a little different. Joy and Alan Chant go out of their way to make you welcome in their lovely accommodation. Each of their two rooms has a seperate entrance which for those, like us, who are a little chary of bed and breakfast, this seperation makes everything very easy. The attention to your needs, comfort and happiness is present throughout your stay. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is too much trouble for them. The breakfast table would put many five star hotels to shame and the quality of cooking and ingredients was first rate. The little details in your accommodation show the level of care: a brand new sealed toothbrush, proper sized toiletries, lovely deep big towels. There is a thought for you every step of the way. Oh, and I forgot to mention the fridge with water, squash, myriad teas, chocolates and coffee! The little idiosyncracies are charming: the view of the goats, pigs, chickens and ducks. The lovely garden and the garden furniture. This is hospitality at its best. Joy and Alan love what they do and it shows. There are a good few hotel managers who could do with a stay here to show them what

I often stay in B&Bs,whilst working away. This was an absolute gem. Joy makes your stay totally comfortable, leaving nothing out. I really enjoyed my stay and will always return when I’m in the area.

Thankyou Joy and Alan for making us feel so welcome and for the absolutely outstanding breakfasts. We will definitely recommend Windwistle to any of our friends who are in the area. The goats were a surprise when we opened the curtains in the morning and very entertaining!
2nd December 2010, Craig & Sue
I cannot really add anything else to what all the other comments have said already, it met all our expectations and more. Joy really goes that bit further to make sure you enjoy your stay, and if i may say does alot more than you would expect, considering the cost, great value for money and a pleasure to meet. Stayed september 2010, sorry for the delay on leaving a review.
29th September 2010, Andy & Tina Germany
We stayed in the annex for four nights during september. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left we were made so welcome. Nothing is to much trouble fro Joy to help you out. I stayed in the annexe for three nights with my Grandchildren and can only reiterate all previous comments and how we enjoyed our stay. My two Grandchildren loved Sasha the dog and all the animals in the field at rear. Joy was so good in providing food for my Grandchildren to feed the goats. The homemade shortbread and rock cakes certainly live up to their reputation. Would not hesitate in recommending Windwistle Cottage.
8th August 2010, Anna & James Cash – August 2010
We stayed here 1 night as family were staying at Longleat Center Parcs and were thoroughly impressed. Just what we look for in a stop over B&B. Homemade shortbread & rockcakes in the room with water, tea, softdrinks in the fridge. Perfect. Breakfast in the morning was more than substantial with local produce, homemade breads & jams – Joy is an amazing host and if we ever come back, we will return to Windwistle!
20th August 2009, Dave and Adele
We stayed here from 15th to 20th August 2009. This is one of the best b&bs we have stayed in. The annexe is a good size with views over the surrounding fields. Joy and Alan made us feel very welcome and showed us some real west country hospitality. Home made rock cakes and shortbread as well as a well stocked fridge full of soft drinks. So much to see in the area and Longleat is very close. Will definitely be back!

July 12th to 16th 2009. We chose this B&B after reading previous comments; which are all spot-on! We had four wonderful nights in the ‘annexe’, which was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, well equipped and spacious. Joy and Alan are just great people. Joy’s breakfasts are fantastic. We could not praise this delighful place high enough.

We were quite fortunate to have been referred to the Windwistle from another B&B that was not able to house our family of three. We were very warmly greeted after a long and late day of driving, and found the accommodations to be absolutely five star at a great value. I travel quite a bit for business, and would rank the Windwistle among the best I have ever experienced, and highly recommend this location… Lots of great attractions and sights within 60 minutes’ drive as well. Well worth a couple nights’ stay. Enjoy!

When I’ve stayed at a B&B before it wasn’t a positive experience. I stayed at Windwistle cottage so I could do work experience at Longleat Safari. It was an unforgettable stay there and I would highly recommend it as accommodation! Joy was so kind and caring she made the B&B feel like a home.
